Ranch horses have life made. Living on a working ranch offers these majestic beasts the best of both worlds. I have a few horses of my own but I don’t consider myself highly knowledgeable in horse behavior, but I do believe that horses, like dogs, prefer life when they have a job to do. Ranch horses enjoy wide open fields with plenty of space and plenty of things to keep them entertained. But put the saddle on them and it’s time to get to work.
I was fortunate enough to do a photography workshop with the fabulous Bev Pettit at the V Bar V Ranch in Rimrock, Arizona last month. Bev is a fabulous western fine art photography and she made herself available for two complete days to talk photography and western style art with the group of forty or so photographers. The staff at V Bar V Ranch allowed us to mingle with their horses and cattle all while snapping and composing photographs from all sides. It was a great adventure and I wanted to share a few of the images I captured at this true western style working ranch.
